Mrs. K.
.
A little bit about me: I was born and raised in Germany, lived mostly in or near Hamburg. In 1976/77 I came to the United States as an exchange student (Clinton, Michigan). A few years later on an extended visit to my former host family I met someone and got married.
I have three children: Sarah (born 1986), Angela (born 1989), and Tommy (born 1998). They are the light of my life! Sarah is also an English high school teacher, Angela is a foreign service worker for the United States government, and Tommy is on the rise, currently a senior at Britton High School.
I also have five (yes, FIVE!) cats. Two of them are only visiting, but for an entire year. So feel free to call me a crazy cat lady.
Patches is "the man" of the house, or, in the animal world, the alpha male. He has seven toes on each front paw and does not like to be petted.
Bunny also has seven toes on each front paw. She is a pet hog. Once you pet her, you will never get rid of her!
Richard Parker, a.k.a Beemer, is a maincoon, meaning he is very big (going on 20 pounds), strong and lively. He once broke a big T.V. by knocking it off a solid shelf...
Bartlett was born in Morocco and imported into the U.S. just like me. He's retained a bit of a feral personality.
Bandita was also imported from Morocco but she's very sociable.
Bandita and Richard Parker are really puppies in disguise. They wag their tail and eat like pigs.
I worked at Boysville for two years as a teacher. It taught me tolerance, patience, hope, persistence, and a lot about the culture in downtown Detroit gang culture. I was very sad when the school closed! I love working with "bad boys."
I like to write books (have several published), watch criminal shows (Dexter and Criminal Minds being my favorites), movies, play spider solitaire, and scramble with friends.
My son and I also run a small thrift store "Flying Dragon" in Tecumseh. Stop by, we have gently used clothes, toys, furniture, dishes, purses, shoes, and cool knickknacks, all for really low prices!
I also love to travel. I have been to most countries in Europe, all over the United States, Central America, and Morocco.
I am building this site for students to communicate with me.
I love cool art, Picasso and Warhol are my favorites!
I also love music: rap (yes!), Heavy Metal, 70s and 80s rock, Adele, Katy Perry, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Metallica... the list goes on...
If you have a great piece of art, a cool song, a poem, a wise or sassy quote, etc. please share it with me so I can add it to this web page!
